ACUPGA Professional Development Grant

About this scholarship

In 2018, in conjunction with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students, Learning and Teaching) the Australian Catholic University Postgraduate Association (ACUPGA) established the ACUPGA Professional Development Grant. The ACUPGA Professional Development Grant has been designed to assist students with the associated costs of partaking in professional development opportunities that support the studies and future career prospects of ACU postgraduate students.

  • This grant is valued at up to $350, to be paid in one lump sum.
  • There are 10 grants available.

The Grant is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria, as of the application date:
  • Citizenship: domestic and international students
  • Faculty: any
  • Course: any ACU postgraduate degree
  • Campus: any
  • Year level: any
  • Required study load: full time or part-time
  • Undertake a professional development activity, for example, training, professional exams, professional body membership, computer skills courses,
  • The activity must be undertaken within 6 months (either before or after) of the application closing date.

Application process

Please provide the following as part of the application:
  • A written statement of approximately 200 words outlining what you hope to gain from your chosen activity
  • Evidence of completion or intent to complete the chosen activity
  • Budget of estimated expenses, or tax invoices of previous expenditure, relating to your chosen activity, this may include the purchasing of necessary equipment.

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed on the strength of the following criteria:
  • Written statement
  • Budget
Preference will be given to students who have not received any other ACU scholarship, grant or bursary related to the professional development opportunity identified in this application.

Selection process

The recipients will be determined by a selection committee consisting of the ACUPGA President, ACUPGA Vice-President (Coursework) and ACUPGA Vice-President (HDR).


  • ACUPGA Office holders must withdraw from the selection committee to apply.
  • Students are only eligible to receive an ACUPGA Grant once during their studies at ACU. Recipients are requested to submit a short report of approximately 250 words outlining how the Grant has assisted them. The report should be submitted to the ACUPGA President no later than 1 month after the professional development opportunity has been undertaken.
